I'm an idiot, what's wrong with the extra strength acetaminophen?

[–] KoalaUnknown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh damn, that's crazy. Yeah I know that it can wreck your liver but had no idea it could be so fast. Thought it was more a long term thing. TMYK.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Is that some kind or hrt drug or something?

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Americans call it acetaminophen, the rest of the world calls it paracetamol. It’s Tylenol.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

It's more commonly known as acetaminophen. Mild pain reliever, like aspirin or Tylenol.

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Is tylenol.

Acetylparaaminophenol i think is tge full name

Aka acetaminophen, aka APAP, aka paracetemol (why?) Aka too many fucking things.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

aka paracetemol (why?)

The UK has different standards for naming drugs

Okay but that one's stupid. APAP is the only good one.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago (5 children)

It’s what the rest of the world uses for headaches and general illnesses. I think Americans use aspirin instead of paracetamol.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

We know it by its other name Acetaminophen.

[–] stinerman@midwest.social 3 points 1 month ago

Aspirin is a different drug than paracetamol/acetaminophen.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

Americans only take aspirin if they have heart problems. Generally speaking, for headaches/muscle pain we will take acetaminophen, ibuprophen, or naproxen.

[–] sykaster@feddit.nl 1 points 1 month ago

It works as a multiplier for other pain meds as well. Take paracetamol combined with ibuprofen and you get the pain relief of a low level opioid like tramadol.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

Canada too apparently

[–] halvar@lemy.lol 2 points 1 month ago

I fucking love paracetamol
