Never got why LA has such a bad rap, I loved it when I lived nearby.

Keep up the good fight!

because it's stupid big and you basically have to drive in packed freeways to get anywhere, and driving in traffic pisses everyone off, and so most of your interactions with people is when they are pissed off and driving.

Plus the air is filthy unless the Santa Anna winds are coming through. I'm only there a few days a month but I always get a headache after a day or two. Definitely a cool city though, no doubt. But it's horribly laid out (mountains do that of course) and way too many cars.

It's wild to think how much worse the air pollution situation used to be there, too, before emissions controls. Being sandwiched between westerly winds and mountains is not ideal for breathing.

You know, there's so much America hate, and much of it seems to be "Americans are cowards and aren't doing anything why aren't you all rioting".

Open a damn newspaper. I'm sick of it. I got my ass beat in 2020. Likely again sometime this summer.

Most people are good. So good, that we need to be pushed well beyond our limits to fight back and that's the tragedy.

Why did someone bring their kid to the only protest area in the city

I know someone whose daughter is a particularly passionate teenager who enjoys going to protests. My friend long ago acknowledged the limits of forbidding his daughter from going to these things, and instead tends to go with her to protests. This openness has also had the beneficial side effect of his daughter trusting him more when he says "No, this one is too dangerous. I don't feel comfortable with you going, even with me". Despite trying to stay away from anything too dicey, I know there have been instances where things have escalated quicker than expected and they've been caught in the fray.

These guys aren't American, so it isn't directly relevant here, but my point is that someone being there with their child isn't too outlandish.

Because if you actually watch footage from the ground, they've been incredibly safe and peaceful. Up until the cops decide to escalate for literally no reason.
