Fediverse vs Disinformation

1541 readers
35 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

"Rubber bullet" is the common term, but it's a bunch of crap. Most of the time it's a huge metal ball wrapped in a thin sheet of rubber, which delivers about half the force of a live ammunition bullet.

Criminal was stealing police munitions, deviously stashed in a skull cavity where authorities have no way of seeing; had to be shot

Edit: in the future, routine security checks will have to include the inside of the skull, to be cracked every time you walk into a secure building like a courthouse, airport, or ration distribution center. Thank these fucking commies for that, since they just love hiding bullets in there so much.
