If you do nothing they win faster.

I am not as pessimistic about the doing here though.

The mire brutal authoritarian regimes become, the more fragile they become. Challenging them and responding to their escalation might be what they want in the short term, but it will be their downfall in the long term.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do anything, just that it's the reason why they deployed the Guard in the first place.

They illegally deployed the NG on a peaceful protest. Assaulting peaceful people tends to make the peaceful people slightly less peaceful. They picked the fight. They caused the violence.
