I'm not Catholic and don't really care who the Pope is but I know that MAGA doesn't like him. That makes me like him.
I went to Catholic school and most of my friends parents would have been democrats, were it not for abortion. If the new pope can convince those Catholics to stop supporting republicans, it’s a win.

If he wasn’t a sexist and a homophobe I’d actually like that guy. But Catholics have a long history of misrepresenting scripture to suit their political purposes, and centuries of bad habits are hard to break.
The scriptures themselves are misogynistic and homophobic. The religion is rotten.
Judeo-Christian scriptures are many things, including misogynistic (women are literally considered property), but they are not, and never have been, homophobic. Not defending them, just pointing out one of those fun facts that gets overlooked because people accept what they’re told - including in the form of compromised translations - without ever raising a finger to confirm if it’s accurate. They want to believe it, so they do.
Two-Scoops wanted this parade in his first term, but the military told him the roads in DC wouldn't take the weight or something. Apparently he wanted it so bad he made somebody find a city where it would work. edit: my bad, I assumed he was having the parade in Chicago, it will be in DC - where the army says it will do $16 million in damage to the streets. This has been factored into the $45 million price tag. Fun trivia: this is enough to build 3 new typical size high schools - but at least we know it's for a good cause! Happy Birthday, Taco Boy.
