I call bullshit on him calling it bullshit. They knew what he was doing as they toted his "waste, fraud, and abuse" slogan like a damn catchphrase every 25 minutes. Not only that but their "big beautiful bill" is doing the exact same thing that DOGE was doing. Call me crazy, but I think this is a smokescreen for more shady shit they are gonna do in the coming weeks or they are using him as a scapegoat so they can keep doing the exact same thing but in the shadows.

Trump wants other people to cut money so he can give tax breaks to rich people

Elon used it to limit accountability and liability for Tesla instead of saving the money Trump intended to steal

Fascism always needs to cull people in power to make it seem like an improvement to the idiots. This is just that. What’s more interesting though is on paper how wealthy musk is, and whether any of that wealth will be used to battle the administration, and additionally if his companies will become nationalized/bought/sold/failed/disintegrated and he’ll fade into obscurity.

DOGE was more surgical and was used to take out groups in government the right hates. These programs did not cost much money at all and often saved money. Couple that with the costs of firing people illegally (legal fees, reinstating fired people when a judge orders it, the government paying other people more money to do required jobs that were eliminated, etc), and you have a massively expensive vendetta campaign.

"I'm an old man, and I am a trusting person. Best trusting person there is. You gotta trust young people, they are the future of our great country! And this highwayman took advantage of it, he robbed me, he robbed America! And he's the one who took that papers, you'll hear about 'em, not me!"

It was a cover to allow Musk to get access to all US gov data and build that into an AI.

Don't forget about disarming all the agencies investigating his companies.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 28 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Also removing as many regulations as he could that were hampering his efforts to screw over multiple towns and cities and states through pollution and environmental destruction.

Dont forget the russians can use that info to track spies and govt projects

It was supposed to be the department of jangling keys, but then they let it make actual firing decisions without knowing how the institutions worked.

The real friends were all of the personal data on Americans that was stolen along the way.

conman gets conned by fellow conman

[–] Monument@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Conman pretends to be conned by partner when partner isn’t good enough conman.

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Trump feels like a weird paradox of brilliant conman and incompitent conman to me. On one hand he did con about a hundred million people which I doubt I could do (even without pesky things like these ethics I have) so he's clearly a great conman. On the other hand I don't understand how anyone could be conned by him because he's so blatantly bat at being a conman.

Wait, you mean the haphazard idea that you could just give a few dozen brogrammers a bunch of Adderall and they could just figure out how to untangle a massive, 200 year old bureaucracy in a few months, might not have been well thought out?

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 28 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Why should it be different from everything else your administration has done? It's all bullshit, all the way down. Deadly dangerous bullshit.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wait til he finds out the effects of his budget and tax bills

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

He won't. That would necessitate Trump sitting (and listening) to info briefs on the country he's supposed to be guiding.

Or for a segment about it to appear on Fox.

Someone is being thrown under the bus, it seems.

Can you expand on that?

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Hopefully this ends with every American getting two birthdays and two Christmases.

[–] DontRedditMyLemmy@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

C'mon, you know we gotta give the extra birthdays and Christmases to the billionaires if we want to make America great again!

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 2 months ago

I love the feeling of trickle down economics, its like a golden shower!

[–] sness@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

I'd settle for two funerals.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

That's certainly the intensity to which I'll celebrate Trump's and Musk's deaths days.
