I can never move to Europe (West or scandanvia) or any better country cause assholes in control always want degrees and people who are good at math.

Not only that but I feel so inferior as an American. Everyday, I wish this country had never existed with how rotten and horrific it is. I sometimes think of praying to god (I dont care if you're an edgelord atheist, don't judge) for stuff like this or to get better at least. The only thing the US does right is its treatment of violent monsters in prisons, and even then, the system is still as shitty as the country itself.

I can't even call myself a a christian for how badly they ruined it for us.

I'm a completely useless person so I know I dont have a chance. I am someone who only has an interest in the arts fields with ADHD. But I am interested in coding. I constantly wonder why and wish that I was born abroad instead instead of suffering in a pathetic, gross cesspit of a country. And I'm already aware of all the problems in other countries, yet I constantly wish that I was born there instead. It makes me feel so bad when I hear someone is not american cause I feel even more isolated and I have no idea why.

Even the process of moving abroad makes it seem not worth it to me so I sometimes get stuck. I just wish i was never born. I feel so inferior.

You’re depressed and depression will show you everything in the worst light. It’s trying to protect you, actually, but the system has gone haywire. It creates a reality for you where everything, including you, is bad.

You’re living a reality that is unnecessarily negative. That can change but the change has to be inside you. Moving countries won’t change it.

You need help to break the cycle. Therapy and medication can help. Even religious practice might help if you avoid the most exploitative ones (like outright cults, prosperity gospel, etc). You can join a church that does charity work and help out.

Start by just observing your negative thoughts. Every time you feel inferior just make a mental note that it’s the depression telling you that.

And get help when you’re able.

yeah exactly, i stay far away from that cult stuff hahaha. Its the reason why our reputation is screwed up as it is.

A huge number of people around the world would give up everything they have to switch places with you. The U.S. is still one of the best places in the world to be born. If you can’t find happiness there, you likely wouldn’t find it here in the Nordics either. This isn’t the utopia you might think it is - people here deal with the exact same issues you’re dealing with there.

[–] memeflicks@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago

Yeah? I said Im well aware. I don't expect a utopia at all, I don't give a shit about a utopia or perfection. I'm just really tired of being here. I feel "unnormal".

Far right authoritarianism is spreading across the world. I'm not sure any country is safe from it. Sure right now it sucks because we are in the middle of it but this likely won't last forever. There will be a pendulum swing.

I'm a computer engineer and have a good income and it's still not easy for me to simply up and switch countries even if I want to.

Something I've been trying to do lately is trying to appreciate what I do have in life and what is good. I can go outside and be surrounded by trees in my neighborhood. I can work on my art in my free time. I like the state I'm in since it's relatively liberal. I try to appreciate my coffee in the morning. The birds in my backyard. The fluffiness of my cat. Focusing on the positives here and now and being present in my present.

And I'm doing that not to shame myself for having it better than others. I'm doing it literally as a survival technique. It's very easy right now to focus on everything wrong, and where I want to be in the future but can't get to right now. But if I keep obsessing over things I cannot change, I will go crazy.

Try to find things you can appreciate about your life as it is now and slow down and really take the time to experience and appreciate those things.

America is huge and has large variation even among indivistates.

You might not be able to get citizenship somewhere else, but you can move somewhere like Minnesota who has liberal cities and a blue state government and still relatively low cost of living.

It's not easy to move states, but it's less effort that what you're saying you can't do.

America sucks, has for a while.

But globally we still won the lottery, just not the jackpot.

For now, don't worry about finding some career you love, that was always bullshit. Find something you're somewhat capable at or there's a worker shortage in

I'm pretty sure ADD is a good thing for flight controllers, it's practically tailor made for hyper focusing on a specific and very important thing. Use the money in your free time to do the art you enjoy.

Yeah I do wanna move on from just art to actually desigining physical props and costumes and stuff. As for STEM, I am a bit interested in coding and a bit interested in welding. However Im unsure if I actually will do welding.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

If you get into welding, wear a mask for your nose and mouth. My first job was working in IT at Cybo Robots. We made welding and cutting systems for assembly lines. We had four or five master welders on staff. They would watch the robots do their thing and tell the programmers what needed to be adjusted. None of them were in good health. They all had lung, eye, and back problems. Get all the safety gear. Then, ATGATT. Wear All The Gear All The Time.

They all said they took the job because it was easy, and they didn't want young people to end up with their health problems.

[–] memeflicks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Its easy, Even if you hate math? (Not basic arithmeritic)

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I am an absolute shite welder, but it's mostly muscle memory, and flame control as far as I can tell. That being said, I have only ever welded iron and steel. Never touched copper or anything expensive. And I don't try to weld anything that is critical, so I don't get to do it much

Edit: Oh, I see what your asking. No those guys were saying their job at Cybo was easy, and it was. We paid them $75,000 a year to mostly sit on their asses shooting the shit with each other. They only had to inspect a weld about once or twice a day.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Do welding, there's a shortage

Good pay, still union, can transfer over to art.

Look into community college programs, and how your state union works.

Sorry to hear you are ok with the dehumanizing, ineffective, expensive system we use to incarcerate people, who not infrequently are in fact innocent people. Revenge is not rehabilitation. Torture is not ok.

All nations are terrible. All political systems are corrupt. In your lifetime that will not change. You can choose to search for happiness anyway. You are not responsible for the world’s problems. Just try not to contribute to them.

[–] memeflicks@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

excuse me for having high empathy for victims

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Being humane to prisoners and having empathy for victims are not mutually exclusive.

[–] memeflicks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Thieves and harmless individuals I can see. Plus murderers who have been drug and grinded throughout the mud leading up to what they did. Of course I can see empathy for them all as well.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

All humans deserve to be treated humanely.

[–] memeflicks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Victims deserve love.
