Sex party is a much better term. Baby’s don’t have a gender yet.

Preliminary gender assignment party.

Sex reveal party.

Sex party obviously has some differing connotations that are very innapropriate in the context of babies.

How, do you believe, babies are made in the first place?

Sex reveal party, revealing we had sex

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I'm pretty sure the kind of people that do these parties are already going around telling their families and friends (and probably internet strangers) that they were having unprotected sex on the regular, no need to have a party to reveal what you've already told everyone

It's also great for advertisement.

Gender reveal parties are fuckin stupid as shit

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What's even worse is the one-upmanship that has taken off with these.

There have been multiple wildfires started by gender reveal pyrotechnics.

Surely you've seen the over-the-top absurdity on social media.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I have, a little, I'm not on most social media anymore. But I didn't think it was competitive, just grandiosity? Or maybe that was the joke?

Nope, just fucking stupid.

You'll see lots of giant clean mall crawl pickups at these.

Especially in the middle of a pandemic.

First half response, "where?" Second half response, "goose?"

Narrator "It was in fact a sex party"

[–] lucelu2@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

I actually went to a gender reveal party for a horse/mare that was pregnant. My friend breeds horses - about one a year. That was a fun party. Although the horse did not appreciate the fireworks (exploding balloon filled with blue glitter).

By far the most interesting part is what those questions were...
