I am looking for mods!

1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.

2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)

3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.

4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.

5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.

TW: death

I'm currently looking after my parents house, along with their neighbour, while they are away. Neighbour is dealing with the family cat, feeding, cleaning the tray, refreshing drinking water etc., and I'm sorting out the mail, checking bills etc., as I live several towns over, and can't be there every day to do pet duties.

I got a message from the neighbour this morning that I had to come over quickly. I assumed he had lost the key or something, and couldn't get in to feed the cat, so told him I'll leave straight away. I was planning on going over anyway today, so it wasn't messing with my plans too much.

When I got there, the neighbour met me in the doorway, which immediately threw me off, as why would I have to get there so quickly if he could get in. He told me I should go into the garden. That's when I saw our 2nd generation family cat (kitten of the original family cat) laying dead, disemboweled on the grass, killed by foxes. The neighbour helped me put her corpse in a box and wrapped it up in a plastic bag, and then I took her to the vet, for cold storage, until my parents are back and we can bury her.

I told my family and wife that our cat had died and was in cold storage at the vet, but I couldn't tell them all the details, as they are generally more squeamish than myself, when it comes to this sort of thing (my wife can't even touch chicken breasts). I have to get it off my chest though, as the image has been weighing on me since this morning.

Oh yeah, and money ran out today, so my wife and I have to hope on no expenses for the rest of the month.

Happy Sunday
