Countdown to Trump saying something deplorable. 10...9...8...

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 112 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Damn, didn’t even get to finish the countdown.

[–] Zerlyna@lemmy.world 54 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Somehow I don’t think you are joking. 😢

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 137 points 2 months ago (10 children)

I stomached looking at his truth social account so you don't have to:

Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.

I guess some pr person has his phone today. He'll probably say something stupid in an interview later.

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 59 points 2 months ago (4 children)

I checked the Conservative subreddit to see what their reaction was and it’s pretty sympathetic. This made me laugh though

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago

As if this isn’t the most basic norm of the presidency?

Has any other president trashed an ex presidents diagnosis (or something similar)?

Tbf, Trump's health is shrouded in so much subterfuge that you could have gotten the right president but we just don't know it.

It should have happened to Trump. Not that Biden is a good guy, but it would be nice if Trump died of an ass related illness.

[–] AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works 59 points 2 months ago (4 children)

I'm not convinced Trump is healthy. I bet he has a plethora of health issues but the paid-off doctors aren't releasing the information.

[–] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 50 points 2 months ago (6 children)

I mean, we know his health report was a sham. The dude reported that Trump only has like 5% body fat. Even the most shredded body builders struggle to hit 5%.

Anything is possible. Prostate cancer is far more common than most people realize....there is an easy to remember true statistic -- 80% of all men over 80 have prostate cancer. That's 4 out of 5. It very often tends to be so slow growing that it's simply not an issue, really, you'll have more pressing health concerns that will kill you first.

It's good to check, then once it is identified, either dealt with or monitored with regular frequency.

Why can't the current president get aggressive cancer? Everyone would love that (although I would pity the cancer).

With all the best doctors the presidents have, they discover it only at the fourth stage?

I'm a lowly peasant and my work let me do a yearly blood+pee test, I assumed that for presidents it would be something like a weekly checkup

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 113 points 2 months ago (6 children)

It’s likely that they knew a long time ago but they are just now announcing it. This would probably also explain why he was so mentally foggy or, seeming like he had dementia. Many cancer drug drugs can do that toyou.

[–] jonne 77 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If that's the case he was even more wrong about running than everyone assumed.

So glad he wanted to run for a second term then, especially after promising to be a one term president. /sarcasm

It's going to be interesting to see how Trump will handle that state funeral

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 127 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Interesting" is a kind way to put that he's going to be horrific and make it all about himself.

Stage 4 cancer with metastasis? Not gonna make it. No amount of money or power can stop a dead man walking.

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term. He probably won't make it to the end of the current administration.

He won't live long enough to see the major impact of slow rolling Trump's arrest.

I wish cancer got the other guy, but I feel no sympathy for an old racist who betrayed various words and didn't fight back against the fascist hard enough.

[–] Zenith@lemm.ee 37 points 2 months ago (5 children)

He’s 82, he’s not going to “make it” regardless

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term.

Look at the average age of congress. Look at what Dianne Feinstein was doing at the end of her life. They don't want power. It's all automatic to them at this point. They don't know now to do anything else then grab and hold as much power as possible without any reason or purpose.

Thank goodness he lives in a country where the cancer hospitals haven't been bombed out of existence with weapons funded by the United States under the leadership of Joe Biden.

Either post on reddit and get a mix of Nazis and Russian bots.

Or post on Lemmy and get dumb fucks that idolize Russia or China and don't even understand what communism is they just know it's "cool" to be against capitalism.

Also never vote, but simultaneously blame the Democrats for everything.

[–] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Tbf it is pretty cool to be against capitalism.

[–] MrScottyTay@sh.itjust.works 37 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Even cooler to do it properly though rather than trying to proxy it by loving China or Russia

God, thats fucking terrible. We put him through the riger the last couple years & now this? This is the worst timeline.

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 28 points 2 months ago

I don't know about you, but I wanted him to stop working when he was 74 and enjoy the rest of his life with his family like people should be allowed to do much younger than that, not start working again at 78.

I have absolutely no guilt over what happened at the tail end of his presidency, I tried to keep him from being in that position at all.

This comment section shows that even on decentralized, less mainstream platforms there's a lot of people behaving similarly to what would be called bots on Reddit. Come on, guys, we can do better than this.

We can acknowledge Joe Biden's crimes and failures without cheering his sickness and wishing him a painful death. Same with Donald Trump and all the other scummy politicians.

We can also disagree about various policies, issues or parties while treating each other with respect and an open mind, instead of degrading all discussion to 'communism vs capitalism' or 'democracy vs fascism' arguments.

I know it can be difficult to remain civil towards government officials who are essentially criminals, and anyone who supports or seems to support them in any capacity. However, I personally think we should try.
