Or, and hear me out, the Democrat establishment don't like having young progressives in charge of things.

I just want establishment dems to come out and tell us what their vision of the future is. You can tell me, "they already have" but if that's the case their messaging sucks or their vision of the future sucks.

or their vision of the future sucks

It's this one

Their answer would be “change nothing really until we’re retired” and “you can make the rules when it’s your turn”. That’s mostly what it boils down to for many of them. The “I’m the one currently benefiting from the status quo so why would I rock the boat” types specifically.

I really don’t expect big changes for another decade because then the demographics will change more for who is in office for the House and Senate. Even then though I’m not optimistic that things will really change for the better until another 10 years after that from looking at how Gen X voted most recently, which was more conservative than the boomers.

Then say it. Pussies. Or keep losing to an orange baffoon.

It’s backwards regressivism and self-centered governance. It’s really not even about him to an extent, he’s just the most exaggerated parts of it front and center.

They won’t openly say anything that costs them their cushy desk job in the Senate or House, but even Pelosi expresses this sentiment of “wait till we’re done and then you progressives will get your chance”. It’s a totally self-serving mindset and ignores the real problems people are facing that could be addressed by them taking action.

I think some politicians are learning and are trying to change, but the ones twiddling their thumbs or are enabling issues should definitely be primaried though.

"Nothing will fundamentally change."

That's their vision.

They’ll ~~take~~ demand our votes, though.

Good! The LAST thing we Want as Democrats is ANY sort of Change at ALL! We'll LOSE to a Nazi for a THIRD Time if it means Rich People CONTINUE to Be Rich! Also we KNOW Trump is JUST JOKING about Jailing Us!

Hogg celebrated the defeat of Mary Peltola in Alaska because she disagreed with him on gun control. If anything, he is less committed to fighting Trump than he is bringing the Democratic Party strictly in line with his beliefs.

If only dems were even half as tough on actual fascists as they are on progressives.

[–] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

Corporate democrats desperate to maintain status quo

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Fucking identity politics. Democrats love that shit more than life itself.

When people argue for starting political parties from nothing, this is what I think they're not considering. Political parties - actual, legitimate parties, not cults now - are difficult to manage.

Cults are easy once you have someone they'll all be a sucker to.

[–] muusemuuse@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Fine, kick Hogg out and let him start his own party. Have him snipe all the angry younger voters who are getting fucked by the other two parties.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If Hogg is going to be harping on about gun control in that role as he has in the past then he does need to go. It's a losing issue and he will bring that baggage to sink the rest of the platform. Instead, make everything about protecting rights and freedoms.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I cant blame a school shooting survivor to be a little opinioned on gun issues.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's the problem with him in a leadership role, is that it's like a banner he carries that defines him to the public. Basically a flag that says Democrats 4 Gun Bans to public perception. And this loses votes.

Meh, I dont follow the belief that gun regulations couldn't be more popular.

If I were Hogg I would just focus on stronger communities means less gun violence.
