Mayor’s wife accuses government of targeting her husband as video shows him being placed in handcuffs by officials

The mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, was arrested for alleged trespass at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) detention center in New Jersey on Friday and released after several hours.

Baraka was released shortly after 8pm and, after stepping out of an SUV with flashing emergency lights, told waiting supporters: “The reality is this: I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Baraka has opposed the construction and opening of the 1,000-bed detention center, arguing that it should not be allowed to open because of building permit issues.

Linda Baraka, the mayor’s wife, accused the federal government of targeting her husband.

“He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. No one is above the law.

Yeah... About that...

Also, who is this Habba person to speak for the entire state of NJ?

Alina Habba, the acting US attorney for the district of New Jersey, and a former personal attorney and adviser to Donald Trump.

Yeah, go fuck yourself, scumbag hypocrite. You do not speak for the people of New Jersey.

The same Alina Habba who, when asked whether she'd rather be smart or pretty, chose pretty because you can fake being smart.

The fact she even answered the question is damning, then on top of it, that's the answer she picked.

Lol "no one is above the law"? Our president was convicted of 34 felonies, and he was not imprisoned or punished.

Why is arrest even a legal remedy for trespassing? They literally took him from public space back onto the property he was supposedly trespassing on as part of the arrest. It makes no sense.

The remedy for trespassing should be escorting someone off the property and no more.

And if he was to be arrested it should've been by local police.
