Arcanum and Divinity II (Ego Draconis, not original sin 2)

[–] Middle_Lies@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Final Fantasy Tactics

Vagrant Story

but please don't completely change the visual style! just clean them up for modern resolution screens

Skies of Arcadia - Would love an updated version of this on the Switch, or some other system. Especially if they can bring back Pinta's Quest, using a phone app or other small device.

Darkened Skye - Though I'm probably one of the few who actually enjoyed this.

I feel like Morrowind was a "perfect storm" situation that can never happen again. A new version would be... less than good, I feel.

Now Daggerfall, on the other hand. There were many good things about it, but in sum, it was kind of a mess. I would love to see it reimagined with updated gameplay and a tightened up map. I would shrink it down to a Skyrim-like scale, but include a whole second underground map consisting of a massively overcomplicated labyrinth of tunnels and shafts connecting together a bunch of extraneous architecture representing fragments left over from thousands of years and multiple timelines of history. It wouldn't be designed to be navigable. The main quest wouldn't touch on it. It would just be there for maze-fiends like myself to get lost in.

My heart and soul says YES but the rational part of my brain knows they would just screw it up. Morrowind is a product of a long-gone age of gaming and I can't imagine the suits would let it fly today and it wouldn't be the same without its old charms and quirks.

C&C: Tiberian Sun and the Firestorm expansion. I wasn't the biggest fan of the original C&C, but picked up the remaster to show my support in the hopes that Tiberian Sun would get the treatment. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be happening as far as I've seen.

[–] packadal@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, and Red Alert 2 as well (since it runs on the same-ish engine).

I've been hoping for this since the release of the remastered versions of the original C&C and Red Alert.

I know I’m in a minority but DK64! I loved that game as a kid. Maybe it was because my game library was quite small growing up but I spent hours and hours during summer vacation with the DK Crew

Twisted Metal 2 for PC.

[–] DaSaw@midwest.social 1 points 2 years ago

I really enjoyed Sim Earth as a kid. Just give me an entire planet operating on a geological scale as a sort of "virtual terrarium", and I'll be happy.

Icewind Dale 2 need a remaster / EE edition. I remember reading somewhere that the source code was lost. Same issue with HOMM3 extensions that why there is no HD edition of the full game and why GOG version is still the best.

Jak II (and probably the others after it but I haven't gotten to them yet so can't say for sure). Not Precursor Legacy though, it's perfect and nobody can tell me otherwise
Edit: jk I forgot Precursor Legacy didn't have subtitles, it could do with those.

Half Life 1 (and 2 at this point, tbh) Actually fuck it let's just re-do all the Valve Source FPS. TAKE MY MONEY

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 would be an awesome candidate for an AOE Definitive Edition style remake where the mechanics are virtually unchanged but it's given a 3D graphics overhaul with unfixed zoom levels

Tron 2.0 but it'll never happen because it's a split timeline from Tron Legacy :[

Star wars jedi power battles. More people need to know about the second best jedi game with the worst title that ever existed.

[–] IcedCoffeeBitch@beehaw.org 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What do you consider the best one?

[–] Kaldo@beehaw.org 1 points 2 years ago

Jedi Academy

[–] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

More a remake from the bottom up than just a remaster, but 1st person 3d Fallout and Fallout 2.

It's probably impossible due to rights issues and the like and would definitely piss off purists, but it would introduce a new generation to the origin of the series, the game that us olds first fell in love with.

It would also give us the opportunity to experience them anew with increased immersion and immedience as we wait for 5 to be released some time in the middle of the 2030s if even then..

I would love a New Vegas remake. I think the old games would be too hard to reimagine in 3D, but New Vegas already has that covered and has the same feeling as the old style of Fallout. And it deserves a proper remake as too much of the original vision got diminished by technical limitations (the strip being in 3 parts instead of one huge strip), short development schedule (Legion and House being somewhat underdeveloped) or both (Ulysses was originally supposed to be the legion aligned companion but he was too big to fit on the disk and they didn't have time to reduce his size, so he got cut from the base game). There's probably a lot of untapped potential in New Vegas to feel fresh while still feeling like New Vegas.

Always my answer when questions like these come up. I played it before FF7 and I always considered it the better of the two
