I've been adding a "Why does this matter " section. A lot of people don't even know these apps exist, and even then the answer is usually "They should just use the main one". Reading through yours, just make sure it'll hold up to that scrutiny. I usually have to add in something along the lines of "Even if you use the main app this will affect the communities with reasons X, Y, and Z" like the moderator bit.

Also be ready for a dozen "Lemmy sux" comments, which I've been directing honestly. "Yes, it has it's flaws, but all alternatives do. I think Lemmy has promise though, and any shortcomings right now can be overcome in time". Reddit thrives on arguments like "No it doesn't, lemmy is awesome" and then a comment thread 30 comments long. Keep it on point, "It has pros and cons for sure, but I mostly want us to stay focused on Reddit's choices"

I like it. I would specify that the reason mods use 3rd party apps is because the apps allow them to to more effectively moderate their communities. The official reddit app doesn't not have the additional functionality that 3rd party apps do. This will cause a decline in subreddit quality for everyone.

Likewise, power users don't just use 3rd party apps for a better personal experience. Power users are more like to actually make content for general consumption. If they leave reddit because their favorite app is gone, you again have a decline in subreddit quality.

Those two points for me really drive home why John/Jane Doe who uses and likes the official app should care at all about any of this.

If it were me, I'd also emphasise how reddit caring about profit over users is a systematic issue, not just a bad decision in isolation that will go away with this boycott, and that non-commercial alternatives like Lemmy won't have this problem.
