The only thing I wonder about is stuff like cakes and icing. Things that are 99% food colored sugar. Is the plan for everyone to get plain brown and white cakes for birthdays?

M&Ms will all be black I guess. I guess the republicans can finally stop being sexually frustrated by the green M&M, since they killed her.

There are food dyes that aren't synthetic. In the EU, foods like fruit loops or Fanta just don't have that clearly fake neon color.

Red Velvet is doomed.

I’m scared. This doesn’t seem like a terrible idea… but it’s coming from a complete jackass. Am I the one who’s losing it?

Task failed successfully

He's probably doing it to prevent autism or some stupid shit.

But whatever. I'll take it.

Guys like these announce the coming announcement so companies that are likely getting affected line up with a bag of totally legal ~~corruption~~ lobbying. And they are suddenly exempted from the law.

It's been happening like forever though.

Does this mean crystal pepsi is making a comeback?

Wonder which conspiracy theory he read about it this time? Why don't you focus on removing microplastics, pollution, prescription drug runoff, farm runoff, and CO2 byproduct contaminants from our water supply before you start running fringe bullshit programs?

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

probably his portfolio... perhaps invested in a company or startup that is 'poised to dominate' the 'natural food coloring' market. all they need is a window of opportunity to pounce and exploit.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Pretty sure it's something like this.

[–] libra00@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I am very much not an RFK fanboy, but how is this a fringe bullshit program? Removing additives from our food seems like it's all upside; maybe they aren't harmful, but they don't help either, they're only used to get us to buy more food. That other stuff is definitely important too, perhaps even more important, but.. if he's going to be fucking around in there I'm content that he's at least doing something that seems positive.

Because everything he says and does is based on a conspiracy theory, and not actual studies, facts, or peer-reviewed information, which he objectively hates and denies to be fact.

[–] libra00@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Ah, that makes sense. I mean, broken clocks and all that, ya know? If it results in the accurate time being told, even if only for a moment, I'm not going to turn my nose up at it.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm not complaining about the accidental relevance of the issue, just RFKJ himself, who is kind of a turd.

[–] libra00@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Fair enough. He is indeed a colossal shitbird.

[–] BussyCat@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

To be fair this is the first thing he’s done that seems actually reasonable. The EU has banned a lot of the synthetic food dyes already and at the end of the day I can’t think of any situation where we actually need these food dyes. Like oh no my hot sauce won’t be as bright in color and might actually look like it’s made of peppers

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

I do not have a problem with this. If mountain dew is a pisser yellow I say good.

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

If you throw a reasonable plan in with all the cuckoo bananas plans, people can't just say "That RFK guy is cuckoo bananas!" They have to say "MOST of RFKs plans are cuckoo bananas." Which sounds better.

[–] Thcdenton@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Such wow very libertarian

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

As everyone pointed out, this is obviously fine, but the problem we may see is exactly the same as every other plan that is going on right now... planning! What's he going to do? Announce the ban, and that's it? Or is there a plan on how to handle this, which should take time to do. My guess is he goes in guns blazing like everything else has, and we end up with more problems and confusion.
