And there will be no repercussions. You’ll get a coupon for free credit monitoring for a year and that will be it.

Luckily data thieves only attempt theft within 12-24 months as allowed by publicly announced class action settlements so everyone should be good.

When these things happen, they should be barred from collecting this data in the future. If that means they can't operate, that means they are out of business.

Everyday I hear about giant corporations leaking data. Nothing happens to them. Congress needs to impose huge fines for data breaches. The government also needs to be held accountable. It's bullshit

Hertz can't seem to get it together. Their customers have falsely been arrested for theft on mutiple occasions.#

They are incompetent and have the worst donuts.

I rented a car from them once and when I went to pick it up the office was closed up for some kind of maintenance. No call or warning even though they knew for at least a week I had reserved a car - just a hastily scribbled sign pulled out of a notebook and taped to the inside of the door.

Should be legal to molotov in such cases

for anyone in the US, please freeze your credit for you and anyone else in your family.

With all these breaches it is mandatory.

Also driver license numbers just went up in value because of the anti porn states. If you get asked questions about who has your driver license info, keep any notice of any breaches at hand.

God fucking dammit why did I have to rent from them a few weeks ago

Well, according to the article, it happened at the end of last year. So you should be good. Until the next one, at least.
