As a foreigner I think all American presidents on my lifetime have been pieces of shit and America is a hopeless hell hole. Fucking 10 corporations in a trench coat pretending to be a government.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago (3 children)

This is the sanest comment.

Biden's economy was shit too, which is what made it possible for Trump to broaden his coalition so significantly.

Exactly this. The problems with America predate Trump and his administration. The difference is that Trump and Co. are what used to be satirical caricatures of the idea of American exceptionalism, as if taking Team America The World Police seriously.

Yeah I really wish there was some kind of patent reform so a company can only hold a patent long enough for the work to create the innovation to be worth the pursuit of it.

Instead they will use patents to stifle innovation and stop people from being able to compete with new ideas based on an original innovation. The patent system was supposed to foster innovation, not stifle it.

Ive never seen any politician on any side do anything about the aggressive use of patents. Companies will buy out companies just for the patents. Its obviously a big issue that reworked would make it harder for a corporation to thrive without continuing to innovate and provide what the people really want or need.

Yeah it was decided initially so that the creator could still benefit from it and recoup r&d costs before a third party could copy their design without the r&d and be able to sell the product cheaper.

But now companies just patent any idea without using them just so other companies can't.

If a company doesn't use their patent within a certain time frame it should be completely revoked.

It's still Bidens economy for the next four years unless it's doing good then it becomes Trump's

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, and it was Trump's economy for the past four years because everyone knew he was going to win and everyone would be constantly winning too. Now it's Biden's economy, but wait until Trump's economy kicks into gear. You'll get so many jobs you won't know what to do with them. Unless the economy crashes again after that, then it's Biden's economy again until it recovers then it's Trump's. What's so hard to understand?

Oceania was at war with Eurasia; therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia. -Orwell, 1984

I think it's a fucking asshole for not throwing citizen Trump in a deep dark prison cell the second he stepped out of the White House.

[–] KneeTitts@lemmy.world 23 points 4 months ago (4 children)

If Biden had any balls At.All. Trump would have been in prison Jan 7th

[–] OmegaMan@lemmings.world 9 points 4 months ago

How was Biden to do that when he wasn't president until the 20th.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

If Biden had balls he'd have drone striked Trump and his Supreme Court appointments the day after the court gave the president immunity for executive actions.

Anyone who bothers paying attention knew Republicans were going to fuck our economy up. They always do. But even I am shocked at how fast it's happening.

Doesn't matter. This country is too stupid to learn from mistakes. And down the ship goes.

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 39 points 4 months ago

Trump making the capitalist hellhole worse, does not make the capitalist hellhole acceptable. No matter if the presidents name was Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush or Reagan.

An economy that cannot provide access to basic healthcare and education for its citzens is a failed economy, no matter how high the price tags of stocks traded by coked up psychopaths are.

I think he should be in the Hague, personally.

Greatest president during Joe's presidency. We'll sorely miss anyone who is not Trump.

[–] wellheh@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 4 months ago

The best part about Biden's presidency was not having to read the news because the president was gonna make a huge mess the next day.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 4 months ago

Bad still bad. Ignoring real poverty, homelessness and struggle because "line go up" was not good. No reason to rehabilitate an imperialist billionaire loving war criminal because his successor is arguably worse in many ways.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

He wasn't great but he wasn't batshit crazy like Trump. Sure he should have pushed for universal healthcare, a universal income, taxing the rich more, etc.

The only advantage of Trump being this fucking nuts is America should swing left harder than ever in 2028. Maybe we can get some billionaires to pay their share and some awesome social services to catch with the planet. But that all depends if we even have an election.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Your average Republican still.blames him. That's he playbook get your people to blame the left no matter what!

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Ask someone to repeat the talking point of the Republicans and then ask them about the Democrats. I bet everyone knows about woke, crime immigration and so on. The Republicans run on culture wars and anger to get more interaction like social media.

[–] Coreidan@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

I think rich people do rich people things and your entire class is to blame for all of this.

[–] Sine_Fine_Belli@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

I miss it, I also miss Joe Biden

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

LOL. As if MAGA weren't allergic to rationality.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 4 months ago

My family has been paycheck to paycheck since about 2012, nothing has changed for that. I don't care about the stock market, I care about an income for the low income people like me. No president in my life time has done that.

Trump never will, Biden could have put pressure on congress and chose not to.

[–] piefood@piefed.social 6 points 4 months ago

I still hate it. Sure, the economy under Trump is worse, but that doesn't mean the economy under Biden wasn't also terrible.

[–] LarmyOfLone@lemm.ee 6 points 4 months ago

The democrats must be so giddy. They don't need to move to the left one iota as long as Trump and MAGA is fucking up this bad.

No hope. No change. Corporatist#67 for 2028!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Can we have Clinton's economy again?

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 months ago

A tech bubble that will pop in 2 years and a real estate bubble that will pop in 8? I think we already do.
