Automated updates are nice

Which version of android are you on? If its 12 or above download Droid-ify and use it instead. Any app built for 12 or above will install without the prompt when you tap update.

You have to have a custom recovery like twrp. Download the f droid privileged extension, there should be 2 on the f droid store (just search "privileged", you'll find it). Read the description for each one. One is a zip file that you have to install through twrp, the description will tell you which directory to find it in. The 2nd one is an actual system app that you have to install AFTER installing the zip folder. It's there for updates and whatnot. If you haven't unlocked your bootloader and rooted your phone, you can't do this. Hope this helps!
