Like ever? I feel like it’s almost guaranteed the more money the worse you become. I know this isn’t very dialectic but it’s true.

Kinda depends on what you mean by "good person." Not everyone who's well off is a moustache-twirling porky, but they do all tend to be out of touch. As they say, it's difficult to make someone understand something when their paycheck depends on them not understanding it. Generally, the higher up you are the more things you need to not understand (unless you're a sociopath, ofc), and there's a lot of questions you have no reason to ask and plenty of grifters ready to supply easy answers. The problem is that "trying to help" when you don't have an accurate picture of the world is often counter-productive and harmful. But there's also an element of motivated reasoning so you can't really say they're blameless, and it's not really much consolation when you're on the other side of it - if anything it's all the more frustrating.

I knew exactly one. Sort of.

In his dying years my grandfather came to the realization that, being a big landlord, he was on the highway to hell. Being one of his only descendants that isn't also a massive piece of shit, he granted me authority over his estate.

I was tasked with converting all of his properties into rent-to-own units, private mortgages, or anything else that would give people ownership over their own homes. It was a hell of a lot of work. I refused to draw a salary from the estate because I believed in what we were doing.

Anyways, my Very Cool Aunts and Uncles intervened and used rich people lawyer magic to cut me out of the estate entirely. Now I have negative money and they're richer than before, drawing big profits out of those rentals.

Capitalism is so cool.

All of the wealthier people I've met (or my spouse has met) seems to be, at best, ok at first but they get weirder and weirder the more you get to know them or just default chuds.

What constitutes “a ton of money” in this case

Because I think there comes a point where having a ton of money quickly turns into wealth hoarding

Not a one. Worked for a few local moguls and they were the most miserly jerks who never wanted to pay.
