Well he seems very polite so I'll make an exception

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 28 points 4 months ago

Dude. I'm totally letting the quokkas in.

[–] frickineh@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'm gonna. They can't stop me.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 5 points 4 months ago (3 children)

stops you and bans you from the restaurant

[–] frickineh@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Any restaurant that doesn't let me let in the quokkas probably isn't even a place I want to eat. They can't ban me, I ban myself!

What are they going to do, put up a sign that says "don't let in frikineh@lemmy.world"?

Hmm.

I suppose quokkas are a protected class.

Never heard of our seen one before. Sounds like a name for something in Australia. Is that where this is?

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Yep, quokkas are only native to Australia.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

I'd a called 'em Chazzwozzers

[–] Marduk73@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago

I mean it just sounds like an Australian word. Super cute creature.

[–] YtA4QCam2A9j7EfTgHrH 6 points 4 months ago

They are very cute and have no fear of humans.

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 10 points 4 months ago

That's so rude! What a quokk a shit.

[–] Marsupial@quokk.au 10 points 4 months ago

Psst, who wants to let me in.

[–] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 months ago

We have to meet our daily ~~quota~~ quokka

[–] lettruthout@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Why? Are they bad tippers?

[–] Fontasia@feddit.nl 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Rottnest Island, Western Australia

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

This place is magic, and so are quokkas.

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Fuck the police.

[–] CheeryLBottom@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

How many can I feasibly let in?

[–] BreadAndThread@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I was thinking I could probably carry 5-6 in my arms and at least 2 in my purse. I'll be getting a booth for me and my friends, tyvm.

[–] CheeryLBottom@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Excellent plan!

[–] YtA4QCam2A9j7EfTgHrH 7 points 4 months ago

[–] match@pawb.social 5 points 4 months ago

that quokka is fresh from throwing her baby at a predator to escape, she needs a good meal

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 months ago

Gonna have to fetch them some takeout then

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Me after stealing all the food off everyone's table while they are distracted by the quokka I let in:

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (2 children)

So, I'm not Australian and, until I recognized the animal, I kept thinking the sign was pronounced Quo-Kah. Had to google how to pronounce it. It's pronounced Qu-ah Khah. Anyone else struggle reading that?

[–] Lyrl@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago

Wikipedia says /ˈkwɒkə/ which I think was your original pronunciation.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 months ago

Somebody give me some context. Is it just to avoid having the little creatures associate the place with food, because they smell or is it just a well humored take? Last time I checked, quokkas don't speak.
