And there are lots of other sizes too, such as the huge 40135 (40mm x 135mm)

If anybody is interested I'll post a 40135 next to a banana for scale

Op delivers: the venerable 40135 with a banana for scale

bonus: 40135 with girlfriend for scale (I think she's impressed)

Holy moly what a monster battery! TY, OP!

This is the way

This is also true of coin cells, i.e. watch batteries. For instance, the ubiquitous CR2032 is 20mm in diameter and 3.2mm thick. CR2024 is the same but 2.4mm thick, CR2016 is 1.6mm thick, etc.

This is really confusing. If 40135 is 40mm x 135mm, then shouldn't 18650 be 18mm x 650mm? Or conversely if it's 18mm x 65mm then I'd expect it to be 18065.

To make things worse the standard coin cells 2032 are 20mm x 3.2mm🫠

agree, the 'standard' is inconsistent. Perhaps we need to make a new standard.

I fucking love standardized descriptive naming schemes

Also, these are the types of batteries that make up rechargeable tool batteries and even line the bottoms of everyone’s favorite (/s) electric vehicle.

Tesla switched to 4680 (46mm * 80mm) a while ago.
