Nearly 30 wildfires took place across the nation during the weekend, killing at least four and forcing more than 1,500 residents to evacuate, mostly in southeastern regions of the country, officials at firefighting authorities said Sunday.

I don't remember big wildfires being in the news in recent years, or maybe I just missed it? Could be a thing that becomes more common now, as with all extreme weather.

Edit: I meant in Korea, I know other countries have them

It depends on the country. In my home country peat swamps are on fire every year for centuries. It's just what they do. But their fire rate got reduced in a recent decade as some of them were forcefully dried by the government.
