Spurs or OKC could definitely use a culture raiser like Lowry but that contract is very questionable and this is coming from a Raps fan who loves the dude..

some teams with very low payroll may need a big contract to hit the salary floor anyway.
He could be a FA after. A team like Clippers would consider him after that. I think Lowry would want to go to a playoff contending team.
straight up waiving doesn’t make any sense to me. at least keep him on the books as salary filler for a trade later on.
unless they mean waive and stretch to save money, i guess that’s kind of understandable. but then they lose roster flexibility.
If someone picks him up they get that cap relief.
I don't see how that's beneficial, sure his salary is huge but he's still a decent player.
