Comic Books

A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.

Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.

There is only one rule:*

Comic Books is a no judgement zone.

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.

If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.

* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(

I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

I just finished astounding wolfman, reading invincible, since I'm over waiting, caught up to the show last night.

The most recent Palahniuk, Shock Induction.

Slow going because I can't seem to have a half hour to really enjoy a good read lately, but it's not bad so far.

Edit: Damn, missed what community this was.

I'm rereading Watchmen even slower because it's re-read, and I'll reach for the book first.

I am currently at the pinnacle of Chris Claremonts Xmen run where they fight Mr Sinister. I was only reading the uncanny Xmen, but then they were suddenly face to face with Xfactor, so I jumped on that as well. Xfactor has been a pleasant read, really liked the mutants introduced there, especially Artie and Leech.

On the side I have been reading Grommits and the 3rd trade paperback of Monstress. Monstress is so pretty and interesting, but also contains a lot of woven storylines and callbacks, so I only read it when I have full focus.

ElfQuest: The Complete Quest Volume 2… again. I have cancelled all of my subscriptions because every time I go to read a comic these days I open ElfQuest.

Caught up with the shared universe stuff from Mad Cave.

Exit City - 4 issues, noir detective story in a sci-fi city state off the coast of California.

Hour of the Wolf - 4 issues, Witcher meets X-Files.

Revolution 9 - 3 issues released, 2 to go. Group of assassins has one gain a consciece. 6 to go!

Pop Kill - 1st issue is out. Probably the best of the bunch, two warring soda companies, each run by a brother with one arm. Waiting on THAT explanation...
