Please tell me this is actually out there in the wild and not a photoshop.

If it isn’t yet, where do I donate the funds to make it happen?

Makes him look too cool. Needs a Canadian JTF2 team zeroing in on his ass.

Either way, this and the 0-1939 is exactly the kind of public art we need that is effective. It fits with the landscape and makes it look like anything but a “fringe” idea. Social trends pay attention to this sort of thing, and buy into it, just like effective political campaign slogans.

Bonus: it beats him at his own game with all that American PAC phone spam in swing states pre 2024 election. There’s beauty in that.

How much does this sort of ad space cost?

Don't pay for it, just put it up. A few basic tools and a hi vis vest and you can do anything you want. Ladder where appropriate.

There is power in a high vis vest, true. People assume you’re where you’re supposed to be while wearing one. The original studies threw in a clipboard for extra effect. Substitute black tablet for extra effect now.

Or… pay for it and let it stay up for the duration of the contract so vastly more people get to see it?

You can't purchase these ads. They go against the TOS of any advertising space seller.

So you’re saying in the US you cannot?

People take out billboards all the time for political stuff, protesting the death of a person from COVID at a hospital (that’s still happening), advertising religious organizations as medical care, questioning police investigations, etc.

Right, maybe except for the US.

You aren't allowed to advertise against something specific, like a company, in many countries. Plus the advertising space provider can be held liable for defamatory ads.

If this was in the US it would get labeled "domestic terrorism".
