We can't do this on this post. It'll then spread to the whole site.

Slippery slope you lose

[–] Budwig_v_1337hoven@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Sorry buckerino. That’s an argument from fallacy fallacy

[–] Budwig_v_1337hoven@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No I got it, sorry if that wasn't clear
But I feel like my naturalistic fallacy bit flopped for real sadness-abysmal

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Appeal to emotions you lose (I don't think I can keep this bit up how the heck do libs do it)

[–] Budwig_v_1337hoven@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

Argument from anecdote! Bulverism!

[–] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Getting opinions from sucking up the msm trash means spitting them back out is more of a pressure release than something they must struggle to maintain

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Fallacy fallacy you lose

[–] Budwig_v_1337hoven@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

[–] duderium@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago

No true hexbear would do this.

[–] Finger@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago

I am a secret lib the way I like the response, "that's a good point, but what's your bench press?"

[–] HornyOnMain@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Just going to go around posting this at people:

[–] RNAi@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

That's actually what the redditors would like us to do

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The real power move is telling them informal logical fallacies aren't real.

[–] a_blanqui_slate@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

You dropped this 👑 .

[–] ScrewdriverFactoryFactoryProvider@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The true essence of reddit-logo posting is to be as nerdily condescending as possible while offering literally no information. Bonus points for being casually wrong and making statements which can be ambiguously be taken as earnest or as facetious depending on what kind of response they get. Like so:

Something about your use of the word “fallacy” tells me that you are under the delusion that we live in a pre-Wittgenstein world. However, I am not a child and therefore have no interest in playing word games with you. Feel free to respond when you’ve gained the skill to frame your argument in such a way that it does not waste our time.

I got chills. This is really good

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Libs cannot understand the difference between ad hominem and an insult

[–] MoreAmphibians@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

For reference.

Ad Hominem: You're stupid and so your argument is stupid

Insult: Your argument is stupid and so you're stupid.

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Or also, Insult: your argument is stupid. On an unrelated note, you're stupid.

[–] Antiwork@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

I will not allow this post to gaslight me

[–] a_blanqui_slate@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

The concept of an 'informal fallacy' and its consequences have been a disaster for the human discourse.

What happened at the end during the utterance of "oh fu-?"

Was it nazi-punching ? bloomer

[–] muddi@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

pugnus ad hominem argument smh

[–] AbbysMuscles@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Additionally, if anyone calls out a fallacy using its Latin name, bully them for being even more insufferable nerds for using Latin.

[–] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Uhh excuse me it's post hog poster ergo hog

[–] raven@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

What is latin for when you make them the wojak-nooo?

[–] OprahsedCreature@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago

I need to remember this. I just wasted whole minutes of my life arguing with a ~~Nazi~~ ~~lib~~ Nazi about the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Ok.

I call using "A factual error in the premises" since no one else has called that one yet.

That statement should be safe from infinite recursion when trying to use logical fallacies, right?
