That's what he did anyway (and was going to do anyway).
He's already doing that. US stopped all aid to Ukraine (even though it's probably not legal for him to decide that), and is planning on lifting sanctions against Russia.
There's no probably about it.
But he's already been impeached by the house and acquitted by the Senate for stopping aid to Ukraine, so the law doesn't matter anymore.
There are two possible outcomes: either Europe takes over Ukraine’s defense successfully, or they can’t.
If they can’t, then what the US really did is the exact opposite of giving Ukraine to Russia: it made Russia pay a million lives for it.
I think the more pressing problem would be that SS would arrest Zelensky on the spot, if not put a 9mm hole in his head.

This is beautiful. Also terrifying that this is the world we live in with AI, and it's only getting better. We already live in a post-truth world, but refined AI will lead to absolute chaos. Everything will be shoved off as AI whether it's real or not.

I'd be an obvious act of war. Republicans and most average Americans would feel justified in joining with Russia to rip Ukraine in half in retaliation. Even Europe would be hesitant to defend Ukraine because we had all just seen the Ukrainian president (fatally?) assault the king of america on live television.
However, within the country I think if any national level democratic politician was serious about the threat posed by trump they should use their political position to get access to him and then tackle him and start punching. Obviously they'd go jail. Obviously there'd be a national scandal. But the dude is old a hard fall would kill him. In the long run, it'd do way more good than holding up a "this isn't normal" index card.
JD Vance and Mike Johnson are strong deterrents to that though. Because both are equally dangerous as Trump in their own ways, and at least a tiny bit more competent. Vance would be more pro-oligarch than Trump, and Johnson would be more Christian Nationalist/Handmaid's Tale. If anything Trump's erratic nature keeps those factions off balance because he's so self-serving.
