Apologies for the amateur nature of this question, but I've been running small SSD backups for years and want to upgrade my setup.

Can I buy one of these refurbed enterprise drives with SATA and run it on a Mac desktop?

It seems I could just buy a SATA to USB/Thunderbolt adapter and an enclosure and be set. Do I need anything else? Will transfer speed be compromised by the adapter? Will the OS recognize the drive?

I just don't want to chuck money at a paperweight. Thanks in advance.
