I would love to start piecing together a NAS but feel lost and don't know where to start.

I understand I could buy a couple 3.5" HDD & a pre-built NAS to host my files.

| Server NAS | Synology D923+ | |

|

| | Storage | WD Red Pro 8 TB |

It all seems a bit pricey and a bit tedious. I'm decent at following directions related to techy things, but I'll be honest this seems a bit cumbersome. I don't understand what docker is, really. Will I be able to run it using MacOS?

My setup for now, would hypothetically be, a NAS, four 8TB HDDs. I'm not sure how to set up proper redundancy, but I've read that RAID is an option.

I've got a collection of about 850GB. This includes various movies, TV shows, and books.

I'd eventually like to host my own media to get away from these subscriptions.

Any help would be very much appreciated!
