Summary

AI-driven disinformation is increasingly influencing elections in Africa, spreading fake news, deepfakes, and propaganda.

A study by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation found that actors from Russia, China, and the Gulf states use AI to manipulate public opinion, particularly in unstable regions like the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In South Africa, deepfakes have been used in political campaigns, while in Burkina Faso, AI-generated avatars promoted a military coup.

Experts warn that social media platforms removing fact-checking tools further complicates efforts to combat misinformation.

Just as in the USA, Germany and many others.

It's like the corporate news sewers don't want to put it all together for some reason.

I feel like elections in Africa are far more threatened by USA, France, other colonizers, etal. When has AI assassinated or couped a country to enslave people and steal resources? It's state "intelligence" that's truly evil.
