Is the World’s Biggest Navy Base Sinking?

What if the U.S. Navy’s main base in Norfolk, Virginia sinks?

It could happen. And it’s not an isolated problem, as climate change alters coastlines all over the world.

A report from the American Security Project identifies Naval Station Norfolk as America’s fifth most endangered military base. The report also lists Eglin in Florida, Diego Garcia, Bahrain and Guam as being particularly vulnerable to climate change.

I mean, that's direct warfighting stuff, not something like "reduced agricultural potential in the Sahel might lead to more conflict in the world and that could impact the military situation".

Yes, but you see... Acknowledging reality is woke.

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

It is woke. It's also the right thing to acknowledge and work to fix these issues.

What happens at the Pentagon when the Chief Executive decides that we need to start actively ignoring something that the Pentagon itself declared to be a massive threat to national security?

Like, suppose that Trump ordered the Pentagon to set fire to the entire fleet of F-15s and send troops literally marching to their deaths off the lip of the Grand Canyon. Surely there's eventually got to come a breaking point.

Being woke isn't bad.

I wish this was a joke.

“threat multipliers that will aggravate stressors abroad such as poverty, environmental degradation, political instability, and social tensions – conditions that can enable terrorist activity and other forms of violence.”

Pretty obvious. Also, while not a strict military issue, mass immigration to US and Europe is "political instability" at home. Cost of insurance, food, and AC at home affects US economic sustainability and ability to fund the military (just kidding... afford anything other than the military).
