Pro tip if you're handing over money: give the coins first, and then notes. It makes it much easier, because coins on top are likely to slip off and require more careful handling.

Is throwing the change at them not acceptable anymore?

It’s incredible that cashiers aren’t taught this.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

They do it only to people they hate.

We were back when I worked retail, but they are making no money and don't give a fuck about their job

[–] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 months ago

Was about to reply to shout out all the workers who do exactly this!

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

As a former retail worker- we know. If you get the bills first, it’s our passive-aggressive way of saying you were a dick.

We also know that tone doesn’t translate to corrective action forms. No one is getting written up for telling you to “have a sparkling day!”😘

and how do you put away the notes without dropping the coins?

With coins on top the notes, you can simply slide it into your coin purse and the put away the notes.

With coins on the bottom, you can close your hand over the notes and the coins will sit comfortably in your palm. Then you slide the notes out easily.

Me trying to put my card back in my wallet at the drive thru window

Welcome to Aldi.

Or when you try to use contactless only to be asked the amount of tip to give to the cashier, before being able to pay.

If someone does this I'll slow down and take my time.

Similarly if someone is being a douche driving I'll slow down to 2 miles below the speed limit.

I have no illusions that they're learning anything. At that point it's petty revenge.

I used to do this too. Until last year.

I was at home, playing with my cat Leo, when in a span of 30 seconds, he went from being perfectly fine, to not being able to move his back legs, dragging himself along the ground, and yowling in pain. I needed to get him to the emergency vet quickly. The car in front of me pulled this, driving slow, blocking the road, not letting me get around him. Unfortunately Leo didn't make it, and that driver's behavior played a huge part in the lasting personal trauma I'm still dealing with.

The thing is, you don't know why they are driving the way they are. Maybe they are an ass hole, but maybe they have a medical emergency. It isn't your job to enforce the traffic laws. I know I'll never do it again though

[–] db2@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

You have a horn and no excuse to not know ...

... is SOS. You also played a part.

That’s cool except you’re no wasting everyone’s time and not just the person directly behind you.

[–] Robust_Mirror@aussie.zone 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If someone is driving recklessly or tailgating they're the ones creating the problem, not the person choosing to respond by slowing down slightly. Driving 2 mph under the speed limit isn't exactly grinding traffic to a halt. If someone is driving dangerously around me I'd rather force them to slow down if it makes things a bit safer.

[–] fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Is the person tailgating because you're going slow?

And when you drive slow everyone is going to start to pile together into a big group and that only serves to make safety worse. You're not doing something good by doing this, let them get away from you if you value safety.

[–] Robust_Mirror@aussie.zone 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

let them get away from you if you value safety.

And I do that by... Speeding up?

[–] fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Letting them pass. If it's a 4 lane highway get in the right lane and drive a speed different from the car next to you.

Letting them pass. If it's a 4 lane highway get in the right lane and drive a speed different from the car next to you.

So, slow down? If it's a multilane road they're going to overtake. And I think it's disingenuous to assume they're choosing to go under the speed limit in the fast/over taking lane.

Based on context its far more likely this is happening on a single lane road, which, generally speaking, you're more likely to drive near the speed limit on anyway. And I'd rather someone tailgate me at a low speed than a high speed, if they're going to tailgate either way.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Username checks out 💯

[–] GooberEar@lemmy.wtf 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Write a check, honey. Them slow ass bitches behind you will love it.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Another reason to prefer self-checkout. People in line get fanned out across multiple machines.

[–] 5in1k@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

Yeah hurry the fuck up.
