It’s a pretty transparent playbook by now. The far more sneaky playbook is the one where billionaire puppets use token diversity to betray identity politics dupes that blindly vote for someone with a D next to their name.
I find it equally concerning when the slightly less hard-right instead of scapegoating those women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ and most vulnerable, hire them to pander on the campaign trail and then serve those same elites when they get elected. Then, when they are in office, they can turn any criticism of the austerity pushed by those token candidates against the critics, calling them sexist, racist, ableist or what have you.
The only real difference between the two parties is basically branding at this point. They both have identical goals when you peel away the layers of identity politics and casting decisions.
How many other countries are dealing with this shit?
Hi from the Netherlands. We once again elected a right-wing government (though US-conservatives would call them leftwing), and this is exactly what's happening here too.
For here in the US the poor have been convinced they can't afford anything, when they can. And they're just hateful and racist and would rather go full dictatorship than share a nation with people of color. What would you say the reasons are the Netherlands is leaning right?
This just in: conservative useful idiots are the same everywhere
