Why would Putin negotiate when Trump has signaled that he's on Russia's side by nullifying sanctions enforcement on Russian oligarchs?

The only people who think this war is gonna be over anytime soon are located west of Kyiv...

Everybody else is preparing for years of this shit. Can the Ukrainians at least get some more equipment?
