“The holiday database was just OUT OF CONTROL! We had to just start ripping holidays out of there left and right.”

Sounds like google needs a few lessons on database management?

Their hardware just isn't powerful enough to process the amount of data that all those holidays produce

Yeah, i usually just shut my computer down between xmas and new years--the calendar just can't take it

Some years ago, the Calendar team started manually adding a broader set of cultural moments in a wide number of countries around the world.

It's pretty hard to add a recurring event that takes place at the same time every fucking year in a calendar, cut them some slack.

Unrelated, Kissinger is commemorated on 29 November.

So, how many companies we have on the list now? I guess it’s just a matter of time until Microsoft joins the club.

Bill gates has at least been anti-elon in the last few weeks. Don't get me wrong he's still a billionaire exploiting the system, but I don't know if Microsoft is going to bend

[–] brisk@aussie.zone 10 points 6 months ago

Bill Gates doesn't have anything to do with Microsoft anymore

I really hope they won’t, but I’m pretty sure they will sooner or later.

"Not sustainable" is really just Google not wanting to get a antitrust lawsuit from the Trump administration
