Fediverse vs Disinformation

1630 readers
943 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

The funny thing about him saying shit about confident white men is the fact that I wouldn't consider any of those crybaby redtard republicans letting daddy musk walk all over them competent at all.

Edit :

Competent, not confident.

He said competent. But still it holds, none of them are capable of actual work.

Something that become extremely visible when you read the news. Everything grinding to a halt, legal actions as a counter reaction, stock markets that go crazy. All evidence to the contrary of competency.

When people bitch about DEI hiring giving all the good jobs to unqualified people based on their skin color and genitals, the only thing that comes to mind is how many white men get jobs for the exact same reason they're bitching about. If this was about competence you wouldn't even need to mention what race or gender someone is.

It's deeply telling:

  • when a white person is in charge and shit hits the fan, it's immigrants
  • when a non white person is in charge and there's a minor inconvenience, it's DEI. When shit hits the fan, it's DEI and immigrants

And are these "competent white men" in the room with us now?

Funny he says that because last time I checked the world always went to shit because of rich assholes pushing a competent white male agenda

Snopes uses the term "Correct attribution" for fact checks like this. They aren't reviewing the accuracy of the statement, only that they did, in fact, say it.

I would encourage similar terminology here. It may not always be clear if you're analyzing the claim or the quote.

Good advice, as reading this back it could be read as saying the sentiment was true instead of the attribution. Thanks.

'things to work' for other "competent" white men. Only.
