Hey guys. Looking to store around 8-10 TB of films, most likely on 2 external hard drives since the ones with a larger amount of storage get too expensive for my budget. I’m looking to stay below €200 per drive.

So some extra context. The drive needs to be comptatible with a Macbook, i’m looking for plug&play with no required set-up, and i’m mainly gonna use it to just hoard all the films. If i’m gonna watch one of the films i’ll just copy it off the hard drive to my laptop which in turn sends it to my TV.

Would also be great if it can transfer files higher than 4.4GB for films that are in 4K. I’ve read somewhere that i have to use an NTFS based drive but that won’t work with writing on my Macbook, so what do i look for then?

Bonus question: does it even matter if the hard drive is an HDD or SSD?

I’ve seen some options that are below €200 but i’m not entirely sure if they match with my needs as described above. The ones i’ve seen that i can afford are the likes of WD My Passport 5TB, Lacie Mobile Drive Moon 5TB or Lacie Rugged Mini 5TB

I’ll be eternally greatful if a tech wizard can give me any insight, because i lost all my hard drives a year ago and i can’t wait to rebuild my library of favorite films, since cinema is a big passion of mine
