I'm a Linux user and have been ripping optical media for a long time. Last I looked into it, Blu-ray ripping was not operational due to DRM stuff. I know there's MakeMKV, but I don't want to be relying on paid, closed-source software for ripping. It really seems like there should be a ready made open source solution, and it's weird that one dude making MakeMKV could manage it but no team has been able to get it working.

When I tried doing it in the past, I would get recognizable but garbled images. Is there a trick to it, or is this still not achievable? Kind of sad that I spent a fair bit of money on a Blu ray drive and thus far have not been able to put it to use.
