I officially stopped shopping at Target when they backed away from LGBTQ+ support.

[–] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Same. I used to shop there daily. It was my go-to grocery store.

Then they kept bowing down to conservative snowflakes.

After a while, I just stopped going.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 6 months ago

Conservatism: professional victimhood.

[–] w3dd1e@lemm.ee 7 points 6 months ago

I'm running out of places to shop. I hate this timeline.

Another spineless corporation. I wish I could say I was surprised.

I mean come on, do we actually expect any billionaire CEO to not bend down and suck off Trump? It's not like they actually believed in DEI to begin with, it just aligned with the current political climate that was beneficial to stock prices at the time.

Only one I've seen so far, but Costco's board just overwhelmingly reinforced their support for DEI.

But they're clearly the exception... No, I don't expect anything more from these scumbags.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Plenty of them are on his side, but plenty of others are also terrified of what will happen to them if they defy Trump. In a sense, I don't blame them for that. But it's not an excuse.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 6 months ago

Feckless fucking cowards.

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 18 points 6 months ago

It's just another excuse to do layoffs without spooking investors

[–] lunarul@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Is there a list of these companies somewhere?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 35 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (2 children)

It's shorter to list all the companies that aren't preemptively complying with the fascist regime:

  1. Costco

Edit several days later:

  1. Delta Airlines

  2. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA team

  3. JP Morgan

  4. Apple

In a "broken clock is right twice a day but clock running backwards is right 4 times a time a day" kind of way, financial institutions seem to be mostly ignoring them. I don't know if being just evil instead of evil and stupid is much of an improvement, but there's that.

[–] kate@lemmy.uhhoh.com 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

and so a clock running backwards a 2x speed is right 8 times a day and then if it runs backwards at infinite speed it’s right alwayds(this is not a comment on politics i’m just thinking abt clocks)

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Nah you're talking about politics.

The clock has been broken for the past 20 years or so (congressional deadlock).

Now it's running backwards at 2x speed and gaining momentum.

[–] kate@lemmy.uhhoh.com 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Nah you’re talking about politics.

no im thinking abt clocks

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 months ago

Now you're thinking with portals.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Yeah, but they're shitty in other ways, which is why their drivers are on strike right now.
