I need to take up drinking.

[–] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

I know this is a joke but yeah don't. I did this for similar reasons and have been perpetually drunk. It just doesn't end.

[–] Nothing@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Come on bruh, step your game up! Hard drugs is where it’s at 🙃

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, opiates are "better" for your body than alcohol

At least there is that... Well, and you can't die from a withdrawal - although it will be not a nice experience

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

A little cocaine never hurt anyone, but then, who does a little cocaine

[–] Nothing@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

See this is what I’m talking about. You, I like.

Never said anything about cocaine

Edit: although you also can't die from a withdrawal from cocaine

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

it was an alternate suggestion

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Ah, ok
Didn't look through that...
I'm used to sarcastic answers on that topic, so my fault, sorry

"I want my president to govern like a child abuser."

I don't want the image of Trump undoing his belt while Mel Gibson passionately cheering him.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Sugartits is Mel’s pet name for Trump

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

The belt is for show. He's strapped into a fucking girdle so tight, he can't move his torso at all.

The entire MAGA movement is apparently built on daddy issues

Unironically, this. I know they're trying to crack a joke but it's absolutely true. Been saying it for years. The men who enthusiastically participate in this movement are men who crave the attention their own fathers couldn't or wouldn't give them. They are because of this the weakest men among us - and you can tell because they have to cosplay at being tough guys but would go on national TV and say something as degrading and stupid as this and not have an ounce of self-reflection about it because they know they're talking to other people just like them.

It’s also the display of power over those who cannot hit back.

Kids don’t fight back.

Lbgtq people are viewed/painted as weak, they don’t fight back.

Same for Liberals.

Women.

Etc.

So it may have something to do with fatherly attention, but it also has to do with being a bully who can display unchallenged power.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Makes sense, the nazi movement was built on young men who's father's died in WWI.

Some context for Mel's father,

One week before Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ (2004) was released in American film theaters, Hutton Gibson told radio talk show host Steve Feuerstein that the Holocaust was fabricated and "mostly fictional".[28] He said that the Jews had simply emigrated to other countries rather than having been killed, a view which observers described as Holocaust denial.[28][29] He claimed that census statistics prove that there were more Jews in Europe after World War II than before.[30] Gibson said that certain Jews advocate a global religion and one world government.[28]

Well this explains a lot.

🎶 sweeeeet home alabama 🎶

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 41 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think we can all agree, this is the one daddy that needs to go get the milk and never come back.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is one daddy that belongs in prison.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 11 points 1 year ago

let him put out fires for a while. see how he likes it

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 34 points 1 year ago

I was so much happier when he shut up

[–] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I'm just gonna leave this here... whoever gives Gibson any sort of moral authority is ignorant or a piece of shit.

[–] ridago@programming.dev 8 points 1 year ago

Seems pretty in line with republican values to me

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Jfc. I couldn't finish tape 2. What a waste of a human being

Yeah honestly I should have probably included a trigger warning because it is the kind of bad that might trigger ptsd for ppl who have lived in abusive relationships. Thank you for reading

[–] superkret@feddit.org 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Incredibly, this is not from a South Park episode:

Daddy's Home

Content warning: includes Roseanne Barr twerking

Damn, i lost 3 IQ points by watching this

Ewwww no don't give that shit views

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

that explains alot

Hey now, they also have women issues, issues with minorities, issues with not raping or being a pedo, etc

That actually makes a lot of sense.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

The ending to Hacksaw Ridge really told me everything I need to know about Mel Gibson.

Up to the end it was a movie about Desmond Doss trying to reconcile his faith with the war. At the end it was Christianity good let's kill the Japs, Deus Vult.

[–] TimboSlice@discuss.online 2 points 1 year ago

Interesting. I watched it a few years ago and don't remember why I disliked it. That's probably the reason.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I'm interested, too, since I'm not touching that movie. Looks boring anyway.

That's want wanting "a leader" does to you

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

...at the bank, and he's drunk.

I've always thought smoking was kinda trashy, but I think I might buy a pack on my way home today
