It's got a vaguely fascist look to it though, something about those guys holding the lights rubs me the wrong way.

Knew it was Saarinen as soon as I saw it. This was designed by Eliel Saarinen, the father of Eero Saarinen, who is famous for designing (among other things) the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

The statues are jugend (art nouveau) style from 1914 and they are aware of current events

i really like that style of sculpture on 20s-30s buildings, fash be damned the PWA built more of them than the nazis ever did.
