I'm not advocating church mission trip in any way, almost all of them are bullshit vacations for religious folks to feel good about themselves for 'helping' poor people for a week and then shipping off. Yet I'm reminded of when I was a kid and the church I grew up in did one to rural Kentucky and my brothers friends were all going so he and my dad went. My dad, who worked a tough job as a lineman and often was sent out to disasters like hurricanes to rebuild the infrastructure most notably Hurrican Andrew, told me when they got back that it was like a third world country. This was in the early 00s
We have more food banks than branches of McDonald's. Meanwhile supermarkets and energy suppliers have massively increased increased their profits.
It's obscene.
There will be a moment of collapse. Companies can only bring so much money to the top and bleed most people so dry, before living becomes nearly impossible. And then shit will go down. Probably reminding the top how deals where made before unions.

It says nearly a third (31%) of those officially in hardship are in deep poverty and struggling to buy sufficient food, energy and clothes, pay rent and meet other everyday bills.
It’s shameful that instead millions of families are on the edge of destitution.”She added: “In recent years, we’ve made little progress in tackling the causes of poverty: low wages, an inadequate social security system and sky-rocketing housing costs.
“I look forward to reading the commission’s full report next year, and continuing with a collaborative approach across government and society to reduce poverty and support the most vulnerable.”
