His comments, in a statement to RTÉ News, were in response to an article in a Sunday newspaper in which the outgoing Israeli Ambassador to Ireland said the president should not attend as his previous comments were "anti-Israeli".

I don't understand why the Israeli government (and apologists overseas) are trying so hard to make the actions of the IDF in Gaza (and soon the repeat in the West Bank) synonymous with Judaism.

It seems extremely short sighted, and likely to have pretty negative consequences for the diaspora.

Zionists want people to equate Jews with war crimes because they are the actual Anti-semites.

Every accusation is a confession.

So the only people to be persecuted during the Holocaust were Israelis?

Higgins is the president of Ireland. Why is the former Israeli ambassador publicly making ridiculous demands of him? But the ambassador is far from the worst of the Israeli politicians making public statements which sound terrible to an international audience for no good reason. Is there a voting bloc of fanatics who deliberately want to offend other countries that is being pandered to?
