I found a program called FileOptimizer and another called PNG Gauntlet. These programs claim to optimize the file losslessly. Is this true? Or is there a slight quality loss? I'm mainly looking at optimizing images. But with my bad eyesight it's extremely hard for me to tell any quality loss with images in general. And I wanna keep my files as lossless while reducing space.
I also heard that WebP is lossless as well. While messing around I noticed that if I 1st run the images through FileOptimizer or PNG Gauntlet. Then convert them to WebP it saves even more space then if I converted the images to WebP. Dose doing that mess with the quality of the image at all? Or would it still be lossless?
Like I mentioned my main goal is to losslessly compress images. But if FileOptimizer is truly lossless. I'd like to use it on my MP3 library too. So any help there would be appreciated as well. And yes I know MP3 is a lossy format. I try keep my audio files as FLAC. However some songs I only have as MP3's.
Any help or info you can guys and girls can give would be HIGHY appreciated. Thanks.
