Hi All

I wonder if any of you would be able to help me or provide some guidance?

I’ve got a Dell TL2000 tape library (and a couple of TL4000s in storage) which I have installed with two half-height LTO-6 SAS tape drives.

I’ve installed this into my home lab rack, along with a Dell PowerEdge R430 server which has Windows Server 2025 installed on it. So far so good.

For backup software, I’ve installed Veeam Backup & Replicarion community edition. Within this, I’ve gone to the tape backup section and created a tape server (the same machine). Again, so far, so good.

However… here’s where I’m running into problems.

  1. The tape server doesn’t have either of the tape drives showing up/available to use.

  2. In Device Manager, both tape drives are recognised but have a yellow warning triangle. The driver installed is from IBM via windows update, and appears to be recent. But there appears to be an issue with the driver?

I’ve tried to find a driver for the drives (the library itself doesn’t get recognised in Windows?)… but all I can find is firmware updates for the drives and library. I’ve installed these as they’re compatible so I’m now on A30 as the firmware version from Dells website.

  1. I have got the IBM Spectrum Library software to run these each tape as a logical volume, but again, this won’t install as the “right” driver has to be installed first… but again, no joy in finding anything on the IBM FixCentral website.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction, please? Any help would be great fully received!!

Thanks

Matt
