Summary

Donald Trump Jr., Charlie Kirk, and Sergio Gor's visit to Greenland, framed as a pro-Trump tourism trip, has been criticized as a staged political stunt.

Greenlandic politicians denounced the effort as misleading.

Reports reveal that the group allegedly recruited homeless individuals in Nuuk to wear MAGA hats for photo ops, promising them meals in return.

Local residents condemned the move as exploitative and deceptive, with critics accusing the group of manipulating vulnerable individuals to push a pro-U.S. narrative.

Out of a cannon? The only Cannons I know of take forever and put people on pedestals instead of where they belong.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 6 months ago

Please do shoot them out of Aileen Cannon

[–] alexc@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Sure. Why not? It would be fun and cathartic for everyone, especially if it were televised, especially with high speed cameras.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 115 points 6 months ago

The grift just in plain sight, and Americans are so fucken stupid they'll gobble whatever the clique says instead of listening to the residents who were actually there.

There just is no bottom.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 32 points 6 months ago

welcome to fascism, where the only person is the one with power.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 32 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Remember "blacks for Trump"? Which predominantly was white people?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Look at my African American!

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 9 points 6 months ago

At least he has an actual African American on his side this time.

His name was Elon...

The absurdity is definitely funny, but this type of thing won the election.

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 8 points 6 months ago

Too bad there weren't any homeless Luigis nearby

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 57 points 6 months ago (1 children)

They also hired people to wear MAGA hats in the US early in the Trump campaign. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 19 points 6 months ago

did they ever stop payin' people to fill seats, wear their shit, carry their signs.......

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 48 points 6 months ago

Staged AND exploitative. My oh my I don't even have to do ANYTHING to be a better person than a trump excuser. Literal neutrality is better than your party's morals holy hell.

[–] veroxii@aussie.zone 44 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Wait till people find out that everything about Trump is staged and this presidency is a farce.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 months ago

If they didn't learn last time, they're not going to learn this time.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Yet this “farce” you speak of manages to do plenty of damage.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 37 points 6 months ago

Everything MAGA is staged. Seriously… do we have selective memory now?

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 32 points 6 months ago

promising them meals in return

History tells us that those meals were not delivered

[–] Freefall@lemmy.world 27 points 6 months ago

Staged describes 90% of what they do.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 25 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Because it was to kill H1B controversy that was dividing Republicans, and we for fooled again.

[–] SmoothOperator@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

It's wild that threatening a close military ally with invasion is less divisive.

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 6 months ago

They offered an extra meal to participate in a MAGA Bum Fights tournament afterward, which was live-streamed to wealthy donors.

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 16 points 6 months ago

staged? no waaaaay, absolutely impossible

[–] AshMan85@lemmy.world 16 points 6 months ago

every political stunt is staged, that is the whole point.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 15 points 6 months ago

Look guys, the empire is collapsing. I know things seem bad now, but they're gonna get a whole lot worse.

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 15 points 6 months ago

This can't possibly come as a surprise to anyone. Lol

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 14 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Come on bird flu, you can do it! Any day now!

[–] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Now let's hear from all the MAGAts that

  1. believe the story of it being fake
  2. give a shit about it:

oh...

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

🦗🦗🦗

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 6 months ago

It's a diversion from the crazy shit actually going down that will really affect a lot of people.

Goebbels would be very proud.

[–] naught101@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago

No kidding? Did anyone think otherwise?

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Dark turn? WTF are you talking about? EVERYONE knew it was bullshit. The real story is the one not being published.

[–] tired_n_bored@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago
[–] tibi@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

This looks like a false flag to me. Right out of Hitler's playbook... Oh, there are a lot of Germans in Sudetenland, I'll just take it.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago (2 children)

And what meal were those homeless people given as payment? Probably a cold, weeks-old McDonald's burger. Because hey, that's how Donnie (t)rolls.

[–] flyingjake@lemmy.one 4 points 6 months ago

You actually think they came through with a meal for those guys? I'm betting that bill was left unpaid

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 2 points 6 months ago

No, I just can’t see Donnie parting ways with his stash

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 months ago

Cue the avalanche of FB and Xitter posts that will deny any wrong doing and that it was all genuine.

It's going to be a long ride but the next few years will be endless fiascos like this ... while the real changes to our world is happening in the background.

It will take us decades to recover from this stupidity ... if we ever do.

[–] FiremanEdsRevenge@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

They're so bad at this. And everything, really.

[–] militaryintelligence@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Whaaaa? Stupid fucking news cycle. They're complicit.

[–] Default_Defect@midwest.social 2 points 6 months ago

So very wojak-able

[–] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 1 points 6 months ago
