I am beginning to amass an unstable mountain of discrete drives and full SD cards and need to create an affordable archive to clear up some substantial space. BH has 10tb drives for $185 and I'm thinking of getting a 4 drive enclosure using RAID5. This is more for archival than active speed needs (I have fast ssd drives I can keep things on if I need high speed, but I need to clear some space off them).

  1. What is the best affordable enclosure I can get? and

  2. What is the smartest RAID5 software I can get that is either open source and free or affordable and not subscription based? Thank you.
