I pull up tracks from a few soundtracks from time to time. I do really like the common fan favorites: Nier Gestalt/Replicant, Persona 5, Chrono Cross.

I also love the Saki Momiyama era at Falcom, especially Trails to Azure and Trails of Cold Steel 2.

What are some of yours?

Final Fantasy 6. Especially the opening scene when the 3 imperial soldiers walking on the snowy mountain range. And the opera scene as well of course. Oh and the epic final boss music, and the theme song for each characters... basically FF6 is a musical masterpiece.

The remakes that fans do of them are amazing too. Check out Orchestral Fantasy and also the OC Remix called The Impresario.

I know its old as heck now, but its even more amazing when you consider the hardware limitations this was made to fit:

That is still my favorate game of all time, and the music was no small part of it drilling to the nostalgia center of my brain all those years ago.

Subsequent years are mostly occupied by various final fantasy titles and chrono trigger/cross. And all things Nobuo Uematsu, but Koichi Sugiyama left a forever impression early on.

Hey, here's a soundtrack you don't hear about often in English-speaking spaces even though Dragon Quest III was a huge blockbuster in Japan.

Are you looking forward to the HD-2D remake?

Yes. Sometimes I still need to play the old version (old 8 bit one is like having a cheeseburger, new versions are like expemsive fine dining. Some days you just wamt a cheeseburger) but I have been getting every update version they make and def looking forward to this new one.

Chrono Trigger is amazing as well as FF XII, and FF VI. Basically anything that Nobuo Uematsu has touched.

Persona 5 is one of my favorites too. In addition, I really like everything the Xenoblade series has done. Third place goes to Final Fantasy X.

Next up, to name some less popular things, the entire soundtrack from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is great and I also love the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles soundtrack - if nothing else, give "Kaze No Ne" a chance.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is amazing. I got the physical copy that came on like 6 CDs. But you can also get it on ITunes.

Octopath Traveler (1, 2, and CotC) has a really good soundtrack. Even though CotC is just a mobile game, they put the same amount of effort into the music as for the console titles.

I wasn't big on OT1 in general, but the soundtrack is still outstanding. They also did some really impressive technical stuff with it, like how they handled the transitions into the boss music.

Maybe it's because i played Nier Automata first but i would say Nier Automata has my favoritte game music, but Nier Replicant is very good as well.

Persona 5 has some very stylized music and art that always suit to the situation. I have heared river in a desert maybe 1000 times.

The msic of the trails game that keeped the most in my mind is not trails of Cold Steel 2, i think that was of course good as well, but for me it's Trials of Cold Steel 3/4 music.

I can't not say i love the music and soundtrack of Final Fantasy X, the eon music and so on, but i'm very based on that. At least i think you could agree that Noboue Uematsu is a very good music creator.

And you usualy hear very bad things from me about Pokemon, but i really like the music, especialy the final boss theme, of Super Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

And one of my all time favorite game music is the one of Fire Emblem Fates, it's so awesome how they managed to do a transition from overworld music to in battle music, where the music got way more intense in battle. And yes, even after 500 hours into that game i like Azura's theme.
