Billionaires could provide for their family, as well as dozens or even hundreds of others.

[–] Doombot1@lemmy.one 19 points 8 months ago

Dozens, hundreds, thousands, or potentially even millions of other families… and yet, they don’t.

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 12 points 8 months ago (1 children)

To put it into perspective, one billion is one-hundred thousand ten thousand times over. In other words, one billion dollars per year could provide ten-thousand families with an annual income well above that of the current national average.

I had a guy (political science student) explain that slave owners have responsibility too. And if they don't own slaves how are they supposed to earn money?

Brother was so lost in the sauce he actually circled back to the reality of "the ownership class is fundamentally useless and worthless to society unless EXPLICITLY given a group to exploit". Incredible.

Billionaires don't need billions to provide for their family

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

If billionaires were real people they would eat their families like the rest of us

In the words of the Bolshevik who bayoneted the Romanov children, “nits grow up to be lice”

Bin Laden had a family as well, funny how he killed less people yet the US government didn't mind spending trillions to get to him...

[–] Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Well he had the dirt on them.

[–] mydoomlessaccount 3 points 8 months ago

Assuming those families are not in on the racket, and they often are, they deserve better.
