So glad I never married my ex. They proposed just after HS, and I purchased the ring they picked out. $35 bucks.

I burned it along with the lovebomb letters and keepsakes they'd given me, and threw it all in the trash, after we broke up.

Now I live in an apartment, with my partner and cat. We drink and go out, we stay in and chill together. He hasn't forced me into a shape to fit him. It's liberating to find a person who gives you permission to be yourself, unapologetically. I don't need a partner, but I found who I am because they encouraged me to do so.

Just a little appreciation of the way my life changed.

Now to pawn off the el cheapo gold and diamond necklace my ex gave me lol

bro sent an email to ol' boy/girl last night. Basically a rant.. i'll write a list:

  1. Unfair that they can't force room changes.
  2. SIL is pregnant so they want an extra room for them when they visit (which is for a day or two a year).
  3. It's my fault they don't visit because I told them to fuck off when they tried to change sleeping arrangements last xmas.
  4. Family doesn't respect the fact SIL is pregnant (ol' boy who is in a related field hooked them with IVF and paid for it).
  5. Family doesn't respect their marriage (ol' boy paid for their wedding)
  6. That it 'hurts' they aren't getting their way (guilt trip about how bro would like to see them more but won't because they aren't bending to them).
  7. Because I'm not married they get to choose shit.

I predicted that they'd try and guilt the p's into changing shit just for them and blame me. Don't really know why I'm caught up in this.

Highly manipulative shit.

But why he sent that to the ol' girl is fucked. In early Jan she's about to find out if she's going to be totally blind. We're all stressing about that and there's bro pulling shit like this. She's stressed enough.

I swear SIL is pulling the strings.

I will not make them feel welcome next time I see them.

Thank you for listening :)

This mega pisses me off. In the vast majority of cases being knocked up isn't a great drama. Much sympathy.

This is my take on this: Bro and wife have had heated words. She's thrown out a "your family treats us like shit and you don't stick up for me. Blah blah blah". He's left the room to write an angry email.

Ignore it. You've got more important things to deal with.

Woo Hoo, I am finally splinter free!

I think once the anasthetic wears off it is going to really hurt - the splinter turned out to be over 1cm long and as thick as a matchstick. No wonder it would not come out! I've got another box of antibiotics and an extra dressing, hopefully that will be the last of it.

It's been a hell of a year! I want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone here for all the support.

This was a difficult year, and quite honestly, I don't think I would have made it without you all ❀️❀️❀️

Happy new year!!!

We got us some franklin's no frills fireworks going off near my house. More sad than anything lol

This whole fucking suburb is the epitome of franklin's no frills.

Yesterday the man and I had a bet on the cricket. If Australia got up, he has to make me a cuppa in the mornings for the rest of his holidays. Fuck yeah. Who's laughing all the way to the couch now? Me.

I feel some point in February I blinked and when I opened my eyes it was New Year’s Eve. Where did the year go, I swear it’s faster every year. There’s been some ups and downs, and lots of things same as ever that wish I had managed to change, but it was not to be, such is life. Anyway, cheers DT. Hope you are enjoying the night whether it’s staying in or going out, whether you are partying hard or in quiet contemplation. May 2025 be a year of good things ahead.

MY PINA COLADA GOON BAG IS STILL FROZEN! THIS IS A TRAGEDY! A TRAVESTY! A WAR CRIME!

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 7 points 7 months ago (20 children)

Just casually browsing here from the Northern hemisphere, I've never been to Australia. Enjoy the warm summer weather, I just had to deal with frozen car windows.

To the point: What the hell is a goon bag and where do I get one? A pina colada goon bag sounds absolutely delicious.

So I'm thinking Wallace and Gromit tomorrow morning at Cinema Nova. It will be a good first movie going experience for the boys as it doesn't go for too long and will end before nap time.

I just hope not too many other people are there just in case things don't go smoothly but maybe the novelty will get them through

I've had dreams about falling
From every precipice
Every cliff and yet still
Ever always returning the fool

I've had dreams about flying
From out this life
From strife and feeling
That the air on my face is cool

Mega fortnight of roadtrip family visits done. Looking forward to home now. Actually excited about doing a but of a detox and cleaning out the kitchen and pantry over the weekend. I knew I was burned out but not how bad. Bring on 2025. The year of the weekend! (I.e. no overtime or work on the weekend)

Sitting out front of my doctors surgery because if I don't see her tonight, I can't see her till 2nd week of new year.

And I need to catch up with her before then. I got here early on purpose because there's going to be a mad rush of people.

Can't say it's exactly exciting or how I wanted to spend my evening:(

Off an hour early today. Heading home before it's too crazy in the city πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ₯°

Edit: PSA. No trams between ANZAC station and Melbourne Central station from 4.30pm to 430am

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

How come?

E: not sure why I needed the down vote. I was asking about why the tram isn't running. Arsehole.

Little tomatoes are forming!

spoilerOne plant seems rather short and stunted with black spot on the leaves so I gave all the tomatoes and zucchini a spray with the eco fungicide. I also saw white fly on one tomato plant so everybody got sprayed with eco pest spray too.

My poppy seeds barely sprouted but dried out :( Resowed.

The Jack be little pumpkins haven’t sprouted so I might sow more.

The nasturtiums have cabbage moth eggs on them already but that means they’re pulling them off anything else that might be at risk?

The sunflowers are looking a little chewed but alive.

The alyssum might be sprouting, wait and see if it’s flowers or weeds.

I’ve moved the birds water dish to a less accessible spot but you know the dipshits are just going to come even further within the property line and trample my flowers… I need to slow down on the spending and try to pick a spot, but I may have to sacrifice precious back yard space to put a birdbath or water bowl there.

I have now changed the sheets & vacuumed the house. Out with the old 2024 dust, in with the fancy new 2025 dust!

Pest control man came. He couldn't find it unfortunately. He hung up odour absorbent bags, according to the packaging it "doesn't just make odours", it "eliminates them!". Seems a bit ambitious to me. But fingers crossed it works

He said there's definite signs of both mice and rats up there. Droppings and insulation that had been lifted up where they've probably burrowed in to nest. He also said there's a massive hole up there which is where they'd be getting in. Apparently it's so large he didn't even need to use his torch. That's promising, isn't it?

Not a possum which is good. That means the smell should go away in a week or two. But not great he couldn't find it and suspects there are more. And that there's a gigantic hole in the roof

Sigh

Last hope for the year done.

Bread, peanut butter, chippies, mushroom soup and baby peas.

Maybe I should have also picked up more chicken schnitzel but I’ll leave that for next time.

Also Aldi gravy is pretty good!
